Carers Workshop: Day 6. Limetree Cookery and Healthy eating Discussion
Tuesday 10th March at Workspace
Introduction
Workspace is committed to supporting the many Carers in the local community. Carers are some of the most important people in our society and according to NI Carers:
‘in these challenging times carer’s work has never been more important’.
We at Workspace Draperstown Ltd are proud to help local carers in any way we can. We run regular workshops that aim to provide carers with advice, support and give carers an opportunity to meet and network with other local carers. We are delighted to host the Lime House cooking and Healthy eating discussion for carers in the Draperstown area.
What is it?
The Limetree Catering will present a cookery demonstration and after we will have a Healthy Eating Discussion on Tuesday 10th March at Workspace Draperstown. It will discuss the importance of a balanced diet for carers and will offer advice on what you should be eating and what you should be cutting down on. The discussion group will give ideas and tips on how to cook tasty healthy and nutritious meals. It will also give carers pointers as to:
- What food they should eat
- Healthy eating options
- Tasty nutritious foods
- Suggestions on how to cook healthy nutritious meals.
- A balanced diet.
Health eating for Carers
The NHS believes that many carers have poor diets.
To care for others you first need to care for yourself.
A healthy nutritious diet is essential for carers.
Caring is a very demanding profession and a balanced diet is needed for the following reasons:
- So that the carer is healthy enough to work effectively as good diet means that you are less likely to be ill.
- So they have the fitness levels required to help those who can’t help themselves.
- More energy.
- Just feeling good and have a sense of general wellbeing.
Come and join us.
Any carer from the Draperstown area is invited to come. They will be given great advice tailored to their individual needs. You will meet other carers in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
