Magherafelt Groups Supported Through The Workspace Community Fund

12 community and voluntary groups from the Magherafelt area of Mid Ulster District Council were recently awarded grants from our Workspace Community Fund to enable them to run projects that otherwise would not happen.  Projects supported included Ballinascreen Mothers & Toddlers, Derganagh Training and Development Association, Friends of Knocknagin, Glasgowbury, Kilross Primary School, Magherafelt Women’s Group, Mindwise, Moneyneena and District Development Initiative, MS Society Mid Ulster Group, St. Eoghan’s Primary School, Tirgan Community Association and Draperstown Traders.

We operate a range of commercial businesses including installing home insulation products, providing business start-up units and support, employability initiatives and recruitment and waste heat recovery, the surpluses from which are used for community benefit.  We fund projects in Draperstown such as the recreation centre and after school club and since 2009 have been distributing grants to local community and voluntary groups through our Workspace Community Fund.

Laurence O’Kane, The Workspace Group, states “The Workspace Community Fund allows us to allocate a proportion of our surpluses each year so that small grants are available to help finance projects within our local area. This reflects what Workspace is about since it was founded – helping the local community in a practical way.”
